Thank you

Thanks for filling out the pre-course questionnaire for your Liveschool course. Below is some useful information about what to bring, what to expect, and what you need to know about Liveschool.

What to bring:

Liveschool teaches electronic music production with the idea that you can take what we teach home and implement it yourself with your own gear. As a result, we hope that you can bring your own computer. If you are doing so, please make sure that the following is in order:

  1. Your computer needs to be in good working condition and have the ability to play audio through headphones.
  2. You need to have installed the latest version of Ableton Live and have made sure that the library is available within the program (if you need help with this, please do not hesitate to shoot us an email).
  3. Update Live to the latest version, go to the Help Menu > Check for updates  …and follow the online prompts. If you don’t have net access, you can make an appointment with us in advance of your start date
  4. If you don’t have Ableton yet…
    Download a free 30 Day license…
Purchase Live from Ableton.com (see our student discounts page for massive savings on Ableton Live software)
  5. Please remember to keep at least 5GB of memory free on your hard drive as we will provide you with samples, templates and sets to take home and build on.
  6. Please bring your own headphones. If you unable to bring your own we have a selection of headphones available for student use.

If you are unable to bring your own computer…

We prefer students to bring their own computers for many reasons but if you can’t, have no fear! We have a set of Apple Macs that will be available for students to use for the duration of the class. If you require one of these, hopefully you have already told us so in the pre-course questionnaire. Please remember to bring with you a USB thumb drive with 4GB free space to save files to.

Some useful info:

Make sure you take note of when your classes are – we want you to get the most out of your time here and the classes cannot be repeated, which is the trade off for having such small class sizes. Most classes go for 3 hours with a short break about halfway through and have a recommended 3hrs of project time outside of class. We will supply some light refreshments but please, no food or drink is allowed in the studio.

As a Liveschool student, you will be entitled to 6 month of trainer support after the end of your course, in addition to this, you are able to book in for a free 30 minute advice session at any time during your course. We recommend these happen at the end of the course so that you can ask any questions you still have remaining or gain feedback on your projects/music. However if you miss a class or feel like you’re falling behind then this can be held whenever you like. Please note however, that advance notice must be given of when you would like to come in and sessions are available from 11 – 4:30pm Monday-Friday.
