Alex Braithwaite

Mix / Mastering Engineer

Mix and mastering engineer Alex Braithwaite, also known as Sub-human, has worked on records by artists including What So Not, Oliver Tree, MØ, Killer Mike, Vera Blue, RL Grime, Slumberjack, Moss and DMA’s.

Specialising in electronic and bass music, Alex has built a reputation for mixes and masters that hit hard while preserving clarity, depth, and musicality. His engineering work spans club-focused releases, artist projects, and screen music — including sound design and music work for Netflix’s Aunty Donna’s Big Ol’ House of Fun.

As SUB-human, Alex is also a long-running producer in his own right, known for heavy low-end, high-impact productions and releases through labels such as Sweat It Out, Circus, and Deadbeats, alongside remix work for artists including Fatboy Slim and Freeland. He has also shared his mastering approach through Ableton tools and educational resources used by producers looking to achieve louder, cleaner, more release-ready results.

As a trainer at Liveschool, Alex brings this real-world experience to helping students refine their mixes, understand mastering, and make production decisions that translate from the studio to streaming platforms, headphones, and big sound systems.
