Thomas McAlister, known as Big Ever, is a Sydney-born, Berlin-based producer and course contributor known for bass-heavy, percussive club music and a long-running influence across underground electronic scenes.
Before releasing as Big Ever, Thomas built a strong reputation through earlier projects including Cop Envy, with sought-after releases on labels such as Black Opal, Hypercolour, and Templar Sound. His more recent work as Big Ever has continued that trajectory, including releases on Incienso, while his wider studio practice spans collaborations with artists such as DJ Plead and ongoing co-production work connected to Logic1000.
Having grown up around synths and electronic instruments through his family’s repair work, and with years of training on upright bass, Thomas brings an unusually deep technical and musical grounding to production. Through his long period teaching with Liveschool — including while based in Berlin — he contributed to students, the school’s creative culture, and approaches to arrangement and sound design that continue to inform the curriculum today.
