Ninajirachi – I Love My Computer
Literally our favourite thing ever is when artists we work with – either students or staff – hit that moment when everything takes off. And Ninajirachi’s album I Love My Computer is exactly one of those moments.
Hitting #1 on the ARIA Dance Albums chart within weeks of release, and #4 on the broader ARIA album chart, followed by a tour announcement with sold-out shows across North America and Australia (tour dates linked below), is confirmation that both her work and loyal fanbase have together hit an inflexion point.

Even without the new album, this tour would likely have been a sellout – but the quality of the album itself leaves zero doubt. It displays her trademark sound design skills, it’s structured so perfectly it plays like a seamless DJ set, and it represents a revolution in her songwriting.
Ninajirachi’s Love Note to Music-Making
From the album title, to track names, the album art, the lyrics – are a reflection and retrospective on her evolution as a music maker.
The lyrics to iPod Touch (2nd song on the album) will resonate with every music fan who became a producer – from the feelings of belonging and escaping through music, and the making of your first tunes:
“FL studio so late I fell asleep on the keys / with it looping through the speakers bleeding into my dreams”
(Yes, Ninajirachi used FL Studio before joining Liveschool and switching to Ableton ✌️ – and becoming such a pro she was asked to make the official Ableton demo project that came with Live 11.)

Finding Your Voice: Ninajirachi’s Journey
Not only do her artistry and production shine in this album, there’s also an unquestionable confidence in her own voice – which, for anyone who makes music will know, it can take time and perspective to reach that point.
Ninajirachi’s first 10 singles were all either instrumentals or had someone else on vocals. That all changed with her 11th self-produced single “Cut The Rope” (2020) where Nina sang for the first time, telling us:
“When I was very young my favourite artists were people like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry who have very big and powerful voices. I started writing pop songs when I was in primary school, but I never felt like I should sing them because I don’t have a voice like that.
I’ve followed Mallrat since she first started releasing music and everything about her is amazing and very inspiring to me, but most of all she’s changed the way I think about my own voice. Her music has helped me realise that I don’t need to belt to be able to sing the songs I write.”
…and this journey is shared so perfectly in the lyrics to Sing Good:
Coz I can’t really sing good
But I’m still gonna try it
If something really feels good
Why then would I fight it?
And I can’t really play good
But I’ve got a computer
I’ll hear it in my mind and make it real

Support for homegrown DIY artists
As a self-produced artist, so much goes into creating the music, producing the finished product, doing or directing the artwork, and fostering a growing fanbase. To see this work get such a great response is an inspiration for anyone on the same path.
If you missed out on tour tickets, or can’t get to those cities, there’s usually other ways you can support DIY artists.
- Get a physical copy or digital download. We got Nina’s vinyl the day it was released, now sold out (but there’s one up on discogs!). And just announced: you can pre-order the CD release here.

- Hit their merch store. Most artists have a range of items, and even getting something small is a vote of support.

Nina squared (Nina to the power of Nina)
Not only is I Love My Computer a landmark release for Ninajirachi – and for Australian electronic music (her song “CSIRAC” is even named after Australia’s first computer)… but it’s also a landmark for another Liveschool grad, Nina Las Vegas, whose groundbreaking record label NLV Records has been championing Ninajirachi’s music since the earliest days. Nina and Nina met by being on the same lineup at a show. They collaborated on a track and Nina signed Nina to the label.
NLV Records marked their 10th birthday shortly before they released I Love My Computer. If you love innovative club music like Ninajirachi, dig into their catalogue here: nlvrecords.com
Hugest congrats to Nina (and Nina!) on this incredible achievement. Seeing artists grow and succeed reminds us why we’re here: to support the next generation of electronic music creators who’ll shape tomorrow’s sound.
