Olivia McCarthy
JOY.
Music Producer, Songwriter & Trainer
Artist, producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist JOY. (Olivia McCarthy) is known for self-produced records that blend electronic pop, alt-R&B, and intimate songwriting, combining piano-led composition with detailed, emotionally driven production.
Emerging from Brisbane and first gaining attention through Triple J Unearthed, JOY. established her sound early with releases including Captured and the Ode EP, the latter reaching #1 on the iTunes Electronic chart. Her work has since evolved across projects such as Portal and Six, which together have racked up over 50 million streams, building a catalogue defined by understated vocals and immersive production.
Alongside her solo work, JOY. has built an international profile as a writer and producer across pop, hip-hop, and electronic music – co-writing and producing “Back to the Basics” on Future’s Grammy-nominated I Never Liked You, and collaborating long-term with The Kid LAROI, including on his Billboard #1 project F*CK LOVE. Her wider credits span Polo G, Russ, ZHU, and What So Not, alongside Australian artists Manu Crooks, B Wise, and Jessica Mauboy. As a live artist, she has supported SZA, Kehlani, and Charlie Puth across UK and European arenas.
As a trainer at Liveschool, JOY. brings this artist-led approach into the classroom, helping students develop their own sound, build confidence in production, and translate ideas into finished, release-ready music.
